Artist statement about her abstract paintings:

A blank canvas intimidates me. I begin my paintings by writing on the canvas in charcoal and pastel--messages, hopes, and aspirations. This calligraphy is often incorporated into the composition. My works are painted in oil for its luminous, rich color. I have always had a love affair with color. The experience of mixing paint colors, smelling the oil, and brushing it on the canvas is a sensual pleasure for me. My works, both abstract and figurative, celebrate color.
